[Some time after your character dies, they will wake up in their bunk in camp. But something is wrong here, so very wrong.

Venture outside, and you will see that you're still in camp, but it's trapped in a foggy twilight. Time doesn't seem to pass, and it's quiet. Too quiet. No animals, no breeze, nothing.

The only sign of anything living is in the trees, where dozens and dozens of ghostly figures roam. Sometimes they might come into camp, but you'll probably have to go out to meet them if you want to talk to them. They all seem to be watching camp, but are shy and might flicker away if they're approached.

Finally, in the chapel in the lodge, there is a shadowy figure. It looks like a preteen, perhaps? Maybe 11 or 12 or so. But that's about all you can get from it at a glance.

But you're here now, and there are things to do. Where will you start?]

[That gets a small smile from Lance. They only have about a week left and keeping everyone unified and putting everything they have into these next few days occupies most of what he's thinking about, and though he doesn't mind looking after Boa and wants to be there for as long as the kid needs him to be, he's still relieved to hear those words.]

That's a promise, right?

[He holds out his hand. Yes he's making Boa pinky swear on this. The most solemn of swears.]

[ Boa gives the hand a very skeptical stare, though the judgemental nature of it is very much lost in the puffy redness of his face. He hasn't even stopped crying yet, just slowed down enough to not be hysterical anymore.

But after a moment of hesitation, he does link their pinkies. ]

Promise. [ ... ] Idiot.

[ Boa's kept all his promises so far. Not every goal may have been reached, but a promise is a promise and he doesn't give them lightly. He just knows Lance is right, they can't let themselves get side-tracked by grudges and hatred. There are still people out there who Boa wants to reach, no matter what happened today. Losing focus now would be pathetic, wouldn't it? Or at least saying it like that is a good self-motivator to a child with Boa's priorities. ]

[With the pinky promise out of the way, Lance just gives Boa's head a whack with the pillow on his bed.]

Man, you're cold.

[A toothless remark. It's all part of the usual joshing around they do to help Boa get back a sense of normalcy, even though nothing really is "normal" right now.]

You owe me a new shirt when we get outta here.

... your shirt isn't even real right now. We're ghosts.

[ Is it a damage of property when the property is just a spiritual manifestation of objects that existed in the real world? That is not a question Boa is prepared to answer, but he is willing to raise it just for the sake of argument. ]

[Boa's getting another bop on the head with the pillow.]

That was from my shirt. It says to stop hurting its feelings.

Wonder who your shirt gets the sensitive attitude from....

[ Maybe it's a testament to just how much death they have seen lately that Boa's mind readily latches onto the silly banter and pushes its concerns to the side. His chest is still heavy and he won't be alright for a long while, but part of him simply wants to take every bit of relief he can get from that pain.

That part of him makes Boa grab the pillow from Lance, only to instantly toss it at his face again. ]

Oh - [Is the genius commentary he has as the pillow gets yanked out of his hands. Then Boa's too quick about it for Lance to block, so he gets a faceful of pillow.]

Hey!

[Snatching that up before Boa can, he whacks Boa's arm.]

Don't attack me, I'm just the messenger here.

Think twice before delivering stupid messages then.

[ Grabbing at that pillow now. Give it back!

Having a pillow fight with just one pillow might be a little inconvenient in the end. ]

How about you think twice before saying insensitive things, huh?

[Nope nope nope, not letting og of that pillow.

Actually, since Boa's tugging on it pretty hard, Lance will let go very suddenly and see if the kid ends up whacking himself in the face with it.]

[ Boa has never had siblings before nor pillow-fights, so he is not wise to any of the tricks involved. Lance's scheme goes at full success...

... and Boa just lets himself flop over backwards onto the bed, pillow against his face. Goodbye cruel world, here he rests. ]

Just. So Much Laughter.]

[ Yes, you just laugh Lance... Boa is going to stay here. He's exhausted himself by crying earlier, so he just moves the pillow from his face to his chest and remains lying down. ]
