DEADLAND
[Some time after your character dies, they will wake up in their bunk in camp. But something is wrong here, so very wrong.
Venture outside, and you will see that you're still in camp, but it's trapped in a foggy twilight. Time doesn't seem to pass, and it's quiet. Too quiet. No animals, no breeze, nothing.
The only sign of anything living is in the trees, where dozens and dozens of ghostly figures roam. Sometimes they might come into camp, but you'll probably have to go out to meet them if you want to talk to them. They all seem to be watching camp, but are shy and might flicker away if they're approached.
Finally, in the chapel in the lodge, there is a shadowy figure. It looks like a preteen, perhaps? Maybe 11 or 12 or so. But that's about all you can get from it at a glance.
But you're here now, and there are things to do. Where will you start?]

After a moment he gasps, sharp and excited, reaching out to grab at Lance's wrist without thinking about it.]
There! By the pavilion. Barn owls. [Just gonna hop along for a ride.]
no subject
Mm, I'm with you.
[Kind of. The barn owls are there in his mind's eye, just like his body used to be. This is different though, before when he tried to take control over his zombie it'd been all done out of a sense of urgency. A kind of desperation. The owls are different. Exciting and trying this out with Tal is inexplicably warm. He's so glad they're doing this.
As Sol said, the animals are easier to control somehow. Keeping his eyes closed, he focuses on the world around them as the owl sees it and nudges Tal's owl with a wing.]

Sight is so diferent, muted colors but hyper focused in a way that makes his breath catch. Then Lance is nudging him and he lets out a short cry, something affronted as he hops down along the beam they're perched on. He turns to look at Lance's owl, tilts his head and sways on his feet when it makes the world shift way more than intended.
Maybe they should've sat down first? He grips Lance's hand a little tighter and then stretches out his wings as far as they can go, getting a feel for the size of the bird.]
Whoa
no subject
Ah sorry.
[He murmurs the apology when their clasped hands brush against Tal's side, and then Lance holds himself steady again. Experimentally he lifts one of the owls feet, opening and closing its sharp talons. Turning to face the other ow, he hoots first and then--
Laughter. Right, he can't talk in the owl's body. This is going to get confusing, isn't it?]
This is so cool.

We should sit.... before we fly.
[Honestly if they take off before they sit down Tal's pretty sure he'll fall over. So he tugs at Lance's hand, dropping right down to sit in the grass where they are. Only once he has solid ground under him does he return his focus to the owl, bobbing along the beam, getting the hang of dropping onto such a narrow surface and gripping on with his talons. It'd suck to go soaring and then fumble the landing so for a moment he's content hopping back and forth, probably looking completely foolish but there's no one around to call him on it but Lance.]
