This is the test drive meme for Summer Camp Petosky. Feel free to use this to voicetest, gather samples for your potential app, or just have fun in the setting! Reserves open on May 20th. Hit up our FAQ with any other questions!

1. WHO INVENTED TRUMPETS

You awake with a start in one of the cabins that litter the campgrounds to the soothing sounds of A goddamn trumpet in your ear.

Alright, it's not in your ear persay, but it is being played from a stereo in your cabin, cheekily repeating itself over and over until you stumble out of bed and turn the damn thing off. 'Bed' in this case being one of the bunks in a bunk bed, wearing entirely unfamiliar clothing.

Welcome to camp. Get to know your fellow campers, your new roommates and the other people who are getting the same wakeup call in the cabins nearby.

2. WHO INVENTED FROGS

It's night. There's nothing around but the soft sounds of nature - the wind, gentle splashes from the lake, Frogs screaming all night -

Apparently, one of your counselors has gotten fed up with the noise, and kept you all up so you could go and hunt frogs, with a light and a container with a lid to keep all your catches in. You've got a partner and until daybreak, and the team with the most frogs at the end of the day gets a whole week's worth of tickets. Think of all the candy you could buy with that.

2A. MAYBE BREAKFAST IS A BAD IDEA

The next morning as you all file in bleary eyed from a long night of frogging, you'll notice the kitchen is serving up all your standard american breaskfast favorites: pancakes, bacon, eggs, frog legs-

Frog legs.

Hm.

3. WHO WANTS TO GO HORSEBACK RIDING?

Thankfully, it's not all frogs and mayhem. The Counselors take you out horseback riding through the woods - which would be a fun time if not for one little fact.

The Horses you're riding are all entirely made from living wood. They even like pets and make the appropriate horse noises somehow, but they're made from wood. They don't seem to be dangerous at least, but...

The counselors warn you to stay on the trail and not go off it, no matter how much the horses want to go there. If you decide the warnings are for suckers, well...You won't get very far off the trail before the horses buck you off and begin sticking their roots into you, forcibly sucking your blood with delighted whinnies. At that point? All you can do is hope someone hears your screams and chances coming to save you.

On the other hand, if you listen to the counselors? You get a pleasant ride through a beautiful forest. Maybe listen to the counselors for once, yeah? Or don't - it's your funeral.

4. CAMP SLASHAWAY

Looks like one of your fellow Campers has died - at the hands of one of your own, no less. Maybe you should get around to checking out the body, and make notes of the condition - because the counselors sure aren't going to be any help here. And if you happened to do it...well, maybe you'd be better off misleading them or obfuscating evidence.

5. TRIALS AND SMORES

It's night. the campfire is roaring, you're all seated around it, and now you've been told to do your best to find the killer. Of course, the killer will be punished, but the counselors say they'll only be put in time out - which is a small wooden shack nearby. However, you can all see that they've put the victim's body in there...which is gross and intensely unsanitary. Yet at the same time, something about that hut just...frightens you.

You'd better find the killer, and hope that no one votes for you tonight.

[ Whoever has the misfortune of bunking with Madotsuki is going to discover that her superpower seems to be the ability to sleep through goddamn near everything, because she's dead asleep even as the stereo continues to blast. If you want to wake her up, though, just poke her a bit. She'll get up.

When she does, and has a chance to look around the cabin, she'll come to a single conclusion: ]

This is like that one time I went on a Girl Scout retreat... Except with more magic clothes changing and creeping sensations of dread.

[ Madotsuki's dull rambling immediately cuts off when she opens the door, sees the body, and just...silently stares at it for a moment before shutting the door again. ]

Do they know that this is how you get maggots everywhere? Because...this is how you get maggots everywhere.

"I'll hold the light and container, and you catch the frogs." She stated quite firmly, lifting her chin up in an imitation of a duchess's disdain, before tilting her head - listening as an owl screeches somewhere above them. "So did you know that if you hear the same owl hoot twice, that it means bad luck is coming?"

3 - Horsies? HORSIES!

They're no Rabikan, they're not even real horses, but after her previous condition, being able to ride is absolutely a pleasure - except for the inevitable saddle sores - can they get splinters from these horses? She'll keep that question to herself. "Ah, careful!" She calls out to the person riding next to her. "Horses don't like their reins being gripped too tightly, it might stop trying to go into the woods if you relax your grip."

4 - MURDER!

Lillith peers from behind the group, pursing her lips worriedly as she steps out towards the body, as someone might've gotten some impression she knew medicine. "I... my brother is a doctor, and he lets me tag along, but I don't think I can actually help! I'm sorry!"

"Sounds fine with me," Ichigo mutters, already scanning the area for any hints of the frogs. Honestly, he'd rather be unwinding in the cabins right about now, but...the frogs were pretty damn annoying, so...

The screech of an owl makes him stop, as it temporarily silences the frogs - and he looks back at her with a shrug. "Never heard that, no. A superstition from where you come from?"

[Waking up isn't that hard for Kon. That damn alarm gets him out of bed (and falling off the bunk bed) within a few seconds.

The fall doesn't seem to bother him much, he's back on his feet quick. No, it's the uniform that gets him. It's so...green. And he also might be trying to twist his body a bit to see how much of his ass is getting shown off in these short-shorts.]

Geez, who designed these things? I swear I'll pop out if I try to run.

[YEAH UH

Kon definitely participated in frog-catching last night, and he goes a little pale as he realizes just what is on the breakfast menu.

Then he promptly heads to the kitchen. Care to go with him?]

[So about twenty minutes ago, Kon took his weird wooden horse off into the woods. Right about now he's screaming as he bursts through the treeline and runs back towards the group, his horse mysteriously missing.

He might also be bleeding from several shallow holes in his body too.]

1. What are Stereos

[There's an albino kid being jolted awake by the loud trumpeting noise in the room. He holds the sheets close to his chest as he peers about the room, finding himself more and more disoriented by his surroundings.]

M-mutti?

[Now, this kid is no stranger to living in a house in the woods. He and his mother have been doing that all his life. The problem is, he and his absent mother are also from 16th century Germany. The modern amenities of the cabin are completely alien to him, as is the strange fashion he's wearing for some reason?]

... What is this place?

2A. Don't eat the prince.

[By now, he's gotten sort of used to 21st century camping. There is still a lot of modern stuff he doesn't quite understand...

Like this breakfast, for instance. Mär pokes at one of the frog's legs with a fork, unsure if he should be eating this with his bacon and eggs. The "pancakes" weren't very appetizing either, considering they didn't even have any filling in them. What atrange food...

He turns to the kid next to him for awnsers.] Is this what you people normally have for breakfast?

Wildcard: First aid is important.

[Mär didn't trust those wooden horses one bit. They looked like monsters from the kinds of fairy tales his mother used to tell him. Not wanting to ride the monsters into certian doom, he elected to stay at the campsite instead.

To pass the time, Mär decided to gather whatever herbs he could to create some medicine for a first aid kit. His mother was something of a wise woman who brought natural homemade cures to the neighbouring town. Remembering the recipes he helped her with, he tried to recreate some of them with the fruit from the snack room and non-poisonous plants he found around camp.

He'll be doing this in the mess hall if anyone wants to say hi.]

Or later on, you can catch him dropping his flash light while running full on at something moving in the bushes. He has his "weapon" raised like it's a spear, and he's leaping at it. ]

3. What the hell is a horse? [ He asks that as they are approaching said creatures. Almost walking right into one... and then leaping back once he realizes it's not just something part of the decor. ]

5. [ He's eating s'mores. Marshmallow goo is every where as he chows down on it like he's starving. ]

Man, what is even with this place? I mean, that's really messed up, yo. That body being in there.

Frog
[Chuuta doesn't know a lot about frogs, and he really didn't want to know a lot about frogs, and this whole "catch some frogs all night long" thing isn't anywhere on his list of things he wants to do.

The 14-year-old is yawning a lot as he kind of sticks to the very edges of the pond, occasionally making half-hearted grabs at any frogs that are too distracted by singing to run away.

After about half an hour of this, he just... gives up and finds a spot behind a tree to curl up and go to sleep. Look, he needs some rest, okay.

That is, unless his partner for this "fun nighttime activity" is super determined to catch frogs. If that's the case, then Chuuta will be super determined too, though he kind of makes unhappy faces if he steps too far into the water, and sputters and flails a lot if he trips and falls.]

I guess it's different when it's a human. [He says, talking to the air as usual (talking to the voice in his head) as he stares at the corpse, one hand pressed against his mouth like he's trying not to be sick.

He's seen aliens killed before, been splattered in gore in colors very different from human blood, even seen a body that looked like a human, but this is the first time he's seen a real human really dead.

He crouches down anyway, leans in close to the body of the other camper and rolls it over to investigate the back and the ground underneath, and grabs something from where the corpse's shoulders had been resting.]

We can't just decide who the killer is, we're not trained for this. A-and even if we think we've found the right person, we can't... throw them in there. That's not right.

He's grim faced as he searches the body, but notices that Chuuta grabbed something - and frowns, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder before he can run off with it.]

[Your partner for this activity doesn't exactly look like the sort of person who'd be into catching frogs. He's a gangly kid with blue hair, a collection of black earrings, black-painted nails, and a faint blue pattern across his skin that looks kind of like computer circuits. There's a tattoo on the side of his neck that matches that computer aesthetic, even though he's pretty clearly not any older than 14 or so.

BUT AESTHETIC ASIDE, this guy is super into frogs. He's waist-deep in the lake, hunting through the reeds and grass for any frogs he can catch.]

Bring the box over here! [He says, gesturing with... handfuls of frogs. Like, he's got a toad in each hand and he's just kind of waving them around.]

It's not abnormal to wake up in such a manner, but to her, it's especially strange that she even woke up at all, considering what had just happened. She remembers it all too clearly and it makes her shudder, hugging her arms and that's when she finally realizes the abnormality. This isn't the clothes that she was wearing. In fact, this isn't even her home. Although that trumpet should have already been telling... Nevertheless, her violet eyes flit towards the sound of the noise and she finally gets out of her bed and hits the power off.] Is this-- [She glances around, wondering if there's someone else here. There's another bed in here, so there has to be, right?] Where am I? [It's a little generic, sure, but those are the only words she can even muster up, shuddering.] option ii-a. [Breakfast. For the longest time, she would be the one who cooked in the Matou estate. There were only three people in that house, after all. Living in what was practically a post-apocalyptic world would do that to a person. So seeing something like this is actually foreign to her. It looks and smells good, and almost brings her comfort... [The whole frog catching thing? Was Stan's idea. Of course it was Stan's idea. The old man is lounging in what looks like a lawn chair, leaning back and taking a sip from something that looks distinctly alcoholic.]

Keep going, kids! Don't stop until you've got all those hoppy bastards. ...Is 'bastard' too much? Kinda old fashioned. Listen, if you repeat that in front of your parents, don't bring your ol' pal Stan into it. I don't want anymore angry parents knocking at my door yelling about how I've corrupted their 'precious darlings', alright?

[Beyond that, though, he basically...does very little beyond handing out baskets, and even...falls asleep an hour into it, snoring away. Is he even going to give out tickets by the end of this?]

[Despite the late night, Stan has been practically grinning into his pancakes all morning, watching the kids dance around the frog legs with queasy expression or seeing them go into the kitchen. When breakfast is almost over, he suddenly clears his throat and stands up.]

I gotta joke for you kids! How do you make frog legs?

[He has the widest goddamn grin on his face. This is truly his shining moment.

After a second to let his wit sink in, he sits down.]

Heh heh, I slay me. Oh yeah, by the way - I released all the frogs you caught this morning. Mostly.

[ War sucks. Murder camps suck too. But you know what REALLY sucks? Frogs. Frogs really really suck. They're loud and slimy and it's dark and cold and the shorts on this camp uniform do not provide any kind of protection from the mud or the plants scraping at your legs and THIS SUCKS, FROGS SUCK. ]

Ugh, why do WE have to do this? There's way too many of them anyway! Whatever, I quit, I'm going back to bed!

[ And she just. Shoves her (noticeably empty) frog box into your hands and turns to leave without even waiting for an answer. BYE. ]

[ So last night was like, super lame, right? Oh my gosh, don't these people realize that SOME PEOPLE need their beauty sleep??? Not this girl, of course, she doesn't actually NEED it, she's beautiful always no matter what, but STILL. Very uncool. But at least it looks like they've prepared a nice, filling breakfast to make up for it! Floe is sleepily but cheerfully loading up her plate with pancakes (extra syrup, strawberries, whipped cream), then moves down the line, passing by the eggs, bacon, and finally... ]

[Sure, getting woken up by a trumpet is annoying. Sure, suddenly being in a weird unknown place is strange.

And yet, as this particular camper steps out of her cabin, she just looks delighted with everything about her surroundings. From the way she keeps glancing down at herself, she's even happy about the camp uniform.]

[Richie's baited a container with the biggest, nastiest dead bugs he could find and is perched behind a nearby bush, container lid at the ready. it's actually a pretty square plan, save for one thing: his ridiculous French accent]

[Eddie had to be threatened with punishment to even get on one of those horses. The counselors are regretting that decision, though, because he has spent most of the trip complaining]

I mean... it's still better than real horses, because their hair gets everywhere and they bite and do you know how many germs are in a horse's mouth?

[He was so busy complaining that he hadn't noticed that the horse had gotten fed up with him and wandered off the path. As soon as it was a sufficient distance away from the group it bucked, easily throwing its young passenger from its back. [It takes a minute for Celes's brain to catch up to the rest of her. Slowly she starts to realize her situation. She's sleeping in a bed, with the sound of some sort of trumpets blasting in her ear. Not directly, no, but loud enough to blank out anything else in her mind aside from muting it. Her movements are a bit sluggish as she fiddles lazily with the stereo before slamming her fist against the off switch.

That's about when her eyes truly shoot open. This isn't her room. These aren't her clothes. Where even the hell is she? AND WHERE ARE HER EXTENSIONS?! Is this another one of that bastard bear's tricks? Her eyes dart around the room, taking in all the information she can. The room looks like some sort of cabin not unlike one you'd see in a movie from the west aimed at teenagers. Bunk beds, too. That means roommates. How...disgusting. She notes that while she was the first up, several others are starting to move as well.

[Yes, the nearly 7 foot tall Tarzan lookalike is, in fact, a teenager. And while he claims to not be the smartest of the group, he does have an extensive knowledge of bugs from living in a forest for ten years. It's also a known fact that frogs like to eat bugs that live near ponds.

So the most logical place that he can think of to catch frogs is near a swarm of flies.]

3. Horses are not friends.

[Gonta was very hesitant to ride the horses. Not just because he might accidentally break them, but because they did not look like real horses. After some coaxing, he eventually saddles up and rides down the path.

Eventually, Gonta catches a glimpse of someone trying to wander off the path. This is very concerning, considering how the counselors worded their warning.]

WHERE ARE YOU GOING? [He shouts in concern,] COUNSELORS SAID NOT TO GO OFF PATH!

[If the horses decide to drag them off, Gonta won't hesitate to hop off his horse and rescue that person. After all, Gonta is pretty strong and doesn't want to see his new friends hurt like that.]

5. Oh no.

[Up until now, Gonta was having a sort of pleasant experience. Sure, he was kidnapped again and there were creepy things everywhere, but this place was full of wonderful insects and people! The counselors, though strange, seemed like nice people, and he was actually doing things were fun!

Then came the motives... And the murders... And this campfire trial.

Another killing game, that's what it is. Gonta is shaking a little, gripping his marshmallow stick so hard it's beginning to fracture. He's really scared of what might happen in the outhouse, even after the counselors said it was okay. But if being stuck in Monokuma's game taught him anything, it's how to participate in a group trial and figure out who the culprit is so nobody else gets hurt. May as well share his wisdom with the others.]

[It's alright - there were a lot of people Ichigo might have been annoyed to be paired with this time, but Gonta wasn't one of them. He climbs atop it with some skill, at least. This isn't exactly his first rodeo. Once he's settled, he even leans forward a bit, brushing a hand against the creature's wooden neck.]

[The scene of the murder was, shockingly, unpleasant. The sight, the smell, the blood - even Mitsuru can't hide his surprise at first, dark eyes going wide.

But only just. Soon after, he can be found sketching out the corpse, although his nose wrinkles as he does so. Considering his aptitude for art, it's not half bad.

Upon completion, he picks it up and holds it out with both arms, making sure that everything lines up more or less - though if he notices someone watching, he'll turn to them with a frown.]

Up all night hunting frogs is really no problem. Especially when this is the outcome. It's been so long since he's had a decent toadsteak! Okay so these frog legs are pretty small and Ignis' cooking is way better but he'll take what he can get. It's not as though meat is easy to come by. He's a little disappointed they're fried but to each their own. While others may be content with pancakes Talcott's plate is almost entirely frog legs.

And a couple pieces of bacon? What... is bacon? He'll try it later but first? Frog legs. "It's really too bad we couldn't find a gigantoad..."

Heading out to do this horseback riding nonsense he's a little uncertain. Of course they don't have Chocobos, they're... gone. It still makes him sad to think about. But when they're led up towards the pasture he immediately drops into a defensive stance, reaching for knives that aren't there.

"Spiracorns!" A warning to the others, though his voice is hushed enough to not attract the animals' attention. Except... they're not spiracorns? Upon closer inspection they look awfully small. And their horns are missing.
